Here's a funny horse portrait for a change.
Horse portraits tend to be dignified. Most horse owners want their beautiful equine painted in a manner befitting their nobility. But not every horse is Shadowfax.
Some are more like Mr. Ed.
Loki is of the latter camp. That was what the owner told me, so I went Full-Doofus and painted him sticking his tongue out at the viewer. In my mind, I can hear him giving everyone a long raspberry.
The hair pattern was tricky on this goofball. I took a few stabs at it before I discovered the solution.
The owner was ecstatic. She loved the playful nature of this portrait of her best friend.
I enjoyed painting Loki and I find myself coming back to him often, and Loki makes me smile every time.
